Belvue is a school for pupils with moderate to severe learning difficulties. Each department has a team of teachers and teaching assistants, led by a head of department.
Class teachers work towards the targets set out for each pupil within the Individual Education Plan (IEP) agreed with parents at the annual SEN review meeting. The teaching staff teach core curriculum subjects to classes of up to 12 pupils. The school's basic curriculum consists of English, mathematics, personal social and health education and, in senior school and sixth form, pre-vocational education.
Before entry into the senior school and sixth form, parents will be consulted about the optional subjects they wish their child to study. Pupils will then study to gain an appropriate qualification in each chosen subject as well as compulsory subjects.
