Teaching and learning – ‘Outstanding’
We believe that all students are intelligent in different ways. Learning should be fun and does not have to take place in the classroom.

Achievements and standards – ‘Good’
We believe that student progress is central to the aims of the school. It is our goal that all students fulfil their potential. In 2007, Key Stage 4 results placed the school in the top 5% nationally and in Key Stage 3 the top 1% nationally for progress made by pupils whilst at the school

Curriculum and other activities – ‘Outstanding’
We believe that our curriculum provides our students with the opportunities to make progress. All students are encouraged to take advantage of extended learning opportunities and organised events outside the school timetable.

Care, guidance and support – ‘Outstanding’
We aim to realise the potential of all students irrespective of background, heritage, class, gender or ability. Students who have been identified with special educational needs are taught in smaller classes so that their learning needs are met. In addition to this, students have in-class assistance from a learning support assistant. Students who are experiencing barriers to their learning have access to a learning mentor.

Personal development and well-being – ‘Outstanding’
Behaviour in class and around school is impressive. The standards of behaviour are consistently high. Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural development is outstanding (Ofsted 2007)

New Sixth Form
Our sixth form opened in September 2008 with 200 places (per year). A new £8 million building will be completed in 2009. Courses on offer will include level I, II and III courses in a wide range of subjects.
