Ofsted 2006 – “Outstanding Education” What the Inspector said: Overall effectiveness of the school. Grade 1 Outstanding
“Outstanding education” is offered in line with the school’s mission of achievement for all students in its multi-ethnic community. The headteacher provided the pivotal focus for the school’s vision which has led to continued and sustained improvement.
The key outcomes to ensure personal development and well-being are seamlessly embedded in the school via its Catholic approach. Behaviour is exemplary and achieved with willing acceptance of responsibilities by students. This is underpinned by the care provided by all in the school for each other and most centrally for the students. The guidance and support offered is effective throughout the school. Regular monitoring ensures that problems such as may occur with vulnerable students, are quickly picked up and acted upon. Teachers and all the support staff across the whole school are very cohesive and reflect the multi-ethnic community whom they serve.
Leadership and management are outstanding, with capacity for further improvement; the school offers very good value for money. Students have full confidence in the high quality of education they receive.
“Cardinal Wiseman is an outstanding school where the focus on progress in education is emphasised at every stage. It benefits from a headteacher who is outstanding in his leadership, who is focused on the progress of each pupil”. “The Headteacher is notable for his very 'up front' style of leadership and proves an inspiration to both pupils and staff ” - Ofsted Inspection Report
