Admissions criteria
Places will be offered first in descending order as outlined below.

  1. Looked after children from Catholic families.
  2. *Siblings. Fully practising (weekly attendance at Sunday Mass/Saturday vigil Mass) baptised (with baptismal certificate) Catholics within the Westminster Archdiocese (from the list of Catholic Churches recognised by the Archdiocese of Westminster), with an endorsement from the local parish priest or children from other faiths whose application is supported by a religious leader.
  3. Fully practising (weekly attendance at Sunday Mass/Saturday vigil Mass) baptised (with baptismal certificate) Catholics within the Westminster Archdiocese (from the list of Catholic Churches recognised by the Archdiocese of Westminster), with an endorsement from the local parish priest from the following primary schools:
    Mount Carmel, Ealing
    Our Lady of The Visitation, Greenford
    St Anselm’s, Southall
    St George’s, Sudbury
    St Gregory’s, Ealing
    St John Fisher, Perivale
    St Joseph’s, Hanwell
    St Raphael’s, Northolt
  4. Other fully practising (weekly attendance at Sunday Mass/Saturday vigil Mass) baptised (with baptismal certificate) Catholics within the Westminster Archdiocese (from the list of Catholic Churches recognised by the Archdiocese of Westminster), with an endorsement from the local parish priest.
  5. Other baptised Catholics.
  6. Other looked after children .
  7. Children from other faiths whose application is supported by a religious leader.
  8. Any other applications.

Tie break
In the case of over-subscription in any category, priority will be given to children whose parents/legal guardians’ residential address is the shortest distance from the main gates of The Cardinal Wiseman school in Greenford Road as measured by a straight line.

Notes. (These notes form part of the oversubscription criteria)

* i) The word sibling refers to all blood or adoptive brothers and sisters, or half brothers and sisters who live at the same home as the child. A sibling relationship does not apply when the older child(ren) will leave before the younger one starts.

ii) ‘looked after child’ has the same meaning as in section 22 of the Children Act 1989, and means any child in the care of a local authority or provided with accommodation by them (e.g. children with foster parents).

iii) ‘catechumen’ means a member of the catechumenate of a Catholic Church. This will normally be evidenced by a certificate of reception into the order of catechumens.

iv) ‘Eastern Christian Church’ includes Orthodox Churches, and is normally evidenced by a certificate of baptism or reception from the authorities of the Church.

The school is committed to taking is fair share of vulnerable children who are hard to place, in accordance with locally agreed protocols. Accordingly, outside the normal round of admissions, the governing body empowered to give absolute priority to a child where admission is requested under any local protocol which carries the agreement of both the governing body and the diocese for the current admission year. The governing body has this power even when admitting such a child would exceed the normal admission number.
