What kind of education appeal panels are there?
There are two types:
When and where are education appeal panels held?
Appeals are held at Ealing Town Hall. The admission
appeal panels usually start at 10am and finish by 4.30pm. Exclusion
appeal panels start at either 10am or 1.30pm.
How often are education appeal panels held?
The majority of school admission appeals are held weekly
between May to October and monthly for the remainder of the year.
Exclusion appeal panels are arranged when they are required,
approximately 10 times a year.
How often will I be asked to sit?
We have a pool of members who are contacted when panels are
required. The number of appeals you sit on depends on your
availability.
How many other people sit on the appeal panel?
Three people sit on appeal panels in Ealing. At least
one must be a lay member and another must have education
experience.
Will I receive any training?
Training is provided and further details of this will be
given if you are appointed.
Will I be reimbursed for any expenses?
A small travel allowance is provided and members are
given free access to the Town Hall car park for the day of the
appeal. Lunch is provided for panels that last a full day.
