Applying for a year 7 school place
This is what you need to do if you are an Ealing resident (residents of other boroughs need to contact their home authorities)
-
Complete all sections of Ealing's common application form. If your child currently attends an Ealing school you should be able to collect an application pack containing a common application form and prospectus from the school. If your child attends a school outside the borough or is at an independent school you may ring the admissions team on (020) 8825 5522 and ask for one to be posted to you. Alternatively you can download and print the application form (pdf) or apply online.
-
List, in order of preference, the names of six different state maintained high schools or academies for which you wish your child to be considered, including community, foundation, voluntary aided or out-borough.
Order of preference is very important. -
if you wish to apply for a place at The Cardinal Wiseman School or Twyford C of E High School you must also get an additional information form from the school, fill it in and return it directly to the school. You must also fill in the common application form. Unless both forms are completed your application will not be considered.
-
Any medical or social circumstances that you wish to be considered for your first preference school must be claimed at the time of application and have the appropriate supporting documentation attached to the application (Please see admission criteria for the school concerned). Priority under the criterion of exceptional medical or social circumstances can only be considered for one named school.
Submitting your completed paper common application form
-
if your child attends a state maintained primary school in Ealing, the deadline to return the completed application form to that school was 12 November 2008 as the school will keep a record that your form has been received. Your form should not be returned direct to School Admissions
-
if your child attends a private primary school or school in another borough, the deadline to return the completed application form was 12 November 2008 to the School Admissions Service, Ealing Council, Perceval House, 14-16 Uxbridge Road, London W5 2HL. If you would like us to confirm we have received your paper common application form, please enclose a stamped addressed envelope with your form, noting your child's name and date of birth on the back of the envelope.
Important
If you think a paper common application form submitted by you
has been lost by the London Borough of Ealing, you must be able to
produce proof of posting and receipt by the London Borough of
Ealing.
This is what we will do:
-
Provided we receive your application by the closing date we will send to you on 2 March 2009 a letter by first class post advising the outcome of your application. If we are unable to offer you a place at any of your preferred schools, we will offer you a place at a school with a vacancy as far as practically possible.
-
If you applied online you can log onto the London e-Admissions website from 3 March 2009 to find out the result of your application.
-
if we cannot offer you a place at your preferred school(s), you have the right of appeal. A response form will be included with the letter of 2 March 2009 and if you indicate on that form that you wish to appeal, you will be sent details of how to do so
This information forms part of Ealing's 2009 admission policy.
