Naming ceremonies and renewal of marriage vows are available at the register office and any other approved venue.
Naming ceremonyThis ceremony gives parents and the wider family the opportunity
celebrate the birth of a child and welcome the new arrival into the
family as an alternative to a baptism or other religious
ceremony. The ceremonies are secular and do not contain any
religious references.
It is also an ideal way of creating family bonding for
adoptive or step-children by welcoming them into their new extended
family. This ceremony can also be for older children or for
all the children in that family. Any parent can arrange a
ceremony, whether married or not.
Register office staff will assist in arranging the ceremony to suit the individual needs of your family. The format can include:

Renewal of vows ceremony
This ceremony allows couples who have been married
for any length of time to celebrate renewing their vows.
These ceremonies are often associated with a special wedding
anniversary or for couples who have married abroad and wish to hold
a ceremony back home for friends and relatives who did not attend
their marriage ceremony. Register office staff will
advise on various options for the ceremony. The couple can
make a choice of vows or promises. A selection of poems,
readings and music may also be included in the ceremony. A
souvenir record of the ceremony will be signed and presented during
the event.
