Fake goods

Many complaints from the public relate to used cars that are not roadworthy or have false mileage.  Well-known high street products and branded goods are frequently faked and copied. Fake items such as watches, perfumes, sports goods, CDs, DVDs, often leave the public with sub-standard goods and manufacturers with financial losses. Counterfeit car spares and medicines can kill.

Anyone who supplies counterfeit goods for a profit, such as in the course of a business, is likely to commit a criminal offence and be subject to heavy fines and/or imprisonment.

We investigate complaints which reveal criminal offences under fair trading laws. We can offer advice to any borough resident who buys fake goods.  For further information and advice contact the trading standards team.
