Approved list of contractors

Ealing Council uses two pre-qualification services, Constructionline and CHAS, to provide an approved list of contractors for the following types of works:

internal and external paint decorating

brickwork
maintenance and minor works

Disability adaptations and associated works

automatic toilets
stairlifts etc

Environmental services

abandoned vehicle removal
asbestos works (surveying, testing and removal)
pest control

plumbing
lifts
catering equipment (installation, maintenance and repair)
refrigeration
specific educational establishment related works

External specific building and associated works

housing/non-housing properties
educational buildings (e.g. science blocks where background knowledge must be evident)
modular builds
scaffolding
asbestos-related specialist scaffolding
abseil
roofing
piling
windows (including aluminium)

Green space works

hard and soft landscaping
arboriculture
sports pitches
playground equipment

Highways and civil engineering

including street lighting
street furniture
sewerage and drainage

Security and alarm services

fire appliances
locksmith services
CCTV
car park barrier systems
warden alarms

Other services

logistics (removals, storage and accommodation)
french polishing
sign-making

Constructionline is the BERR-approved national register of pre-qualified contractors to the construction industry. By completing Constructionline’s pre-qualification process, contractors reduce the need to fill in pre-qualification forms for every tender and become visible to over 1,700 buyers.

Currently, Constructionline doesn’t require contractors to be compliant with the Contractors’ Health and Safety Assessment Scheme ( CHAS), but the council insists on CHAS compliance. This means that only companies that are registered as members of both Constructionline and CHAS will be invited to tender for the council’s contracts.

Contractors who have not already done so are encouraged to register with both organisations. Please note that registration is not a guarantee of work.
