Food safety training
Foundation certificate in food hygiene
By law all food handlers must receive adequate
supervision, instruction and/or training in food hygiene for the
work that they do.
Ealing Environmental Health is a registered training centre for
the
Chartered Institute of
Environmental Health and in conjunction with Thames Valley
University runs the Foundation Certificate in Food Hygiene
(previously known as the Basic Food Hygiene Course). Courses are
held over a full day that includes a short examination.
The subjects covered include:
- food poisoning: where it comes from and how it gets into our food
- prevention: how to prevent contamination and the growth of bacteria
- the law: a brief summary of food law and how it affects you
Foundation level food hygiene courses are held on the last Friday of each month (excluding August) at Thames Valley University.
The course is administered by the Environmental Health and Trading Standard's Commercial team and delivered at Thames Valley University. The course is held over one day 9.30am-4.30pm and the fee is £64 per person.
Courses in Punjabi are offered every 3-4 months and this is
administered and delivered by our section.
