Business overview

Ealing sits at the heart of west London - a region voted as the best location to do business in by British firms in 2000. Ealing has 17% of west London jobs and 20% of businesses, employing over 82,000 people in small and medium-sized firms. Some 25-30,000 people work in Ealing town centres, ranging from the metropolitan Ealing Broadway and Southall's Asian centre, to strong local centres in Greenford, Acton, Hanwell and Northolt.

Significant growth has occurred in media, financial and business services. Manufacturing remains a strong element of the economy, focusing on specialist engineering and processing (particularly printing and food). Ealing's industrial estates and business parks are located close to the A40, A406 and the M4. Park Royal is Ealing's and west London's biggest estate.

Excellent transport networks and its proximity to Heathrow, central London and the M4, M40 and M1 motorways make Ealing an attractive location for all types of business. GlaxoSmithKline's research headquarters are in Greenford; Ealing Studios are building a new media village in Ealing Broadway, and Noon products, the fastest growing UK Asian food processor, has expanded its business across a number of Southall industrial estates.
