New dates announced for Ealing ward forums (PR 1286)

Ealing Council has announced dates for the next ward forums to take place across the borough.

Last week more than 100 people turned out for the first of the new-style meetings, which replace the old, poorly attended area committees.

All 23 wards in the borough will be launching forums.  The next meetings will be:

September

October

Because each forum covers a much smaller area it can focus on local issues and it is hoped that will encourage more people to attend and get involved in local decisions.

Led by ward councillors, the forums will feature joint problem solving on local concerns, including round table discussions on issues such as community safety, traffic and transport schemes, parks and street improvements.  Plus each ward will have the chance to influence an annual budget of £40,000 for local improvements.

Council Leader, Councillor Jason Stacey, said: “The first meetings have been well attended and we hope this can be maintained across the borough.”

Meetings for each of the other wards are being arranged and are expected to begin over the next few weeks.  Forums will meet at least three times a year and will be publicised through ward newsletters.  Copies of the newsletters and details of the meetings are available at www.ealing.gov.uk/committees.
