Festive fun at Greenford Christmas fair (PR 1316)

Live music, a Santa’s grotto and street entertainers are just some of the attractions drawing the crowds to this year’s festive fun in Greenford.

People are being invited to enjoy the entertainment on Saturday, 6 December, from 11am-7pm on Greenford Broadway and celebrate the Good for Greenford town centre improvement project.

Local businesses have been invited to take part in a window display competition with a Christmas Winter Wonderland theme. There will be a prize for the winner who will be announced by the Mayor of Ealing, Councillor Ian Green, at the Christmas tree lighting, at 6.30pm by the Memorial Green.

Council Leader, Councillor Jason Stacey, said: “The fun day is a wonderful opportunity for families to experience a great day out with lots going on to keep everyone entertained. It is also a chance for people to see how the Good for Greenford project is taking shape to improve the town centre, making it a more attractive place for people to live in or visit.”

Stalls in Greenford Broadway will be selling Christmas treats including mulled wine, hot chestnuts and toffee apples. Street performers will keep shoppers entertained with a host of characters including Santa on stilts and Christmas angels.

The Greenford Gospel Band, a string quartet and a jazz band will all be performing live music and Greenford Baptist Church will hold a traditional carol service, and youngsters from John Fisher Primary School’s choir will also be entertaining crowds.
Santa’s Grotto will be based at Ravenor Farm, in Oldfield Lane South, next to the Motorcycle Museum. It is run by the local community and will be open between 10am-4pm.

The grotto will also open on 29-30 November, 7 December and 13-24 December, with a price of £4 for children (including a gift) and £1 for adults.

The Council would like to thank Tesco for contributing towards the cost of the Christmas lights.
