The closing date for high school admission applications in Ealing for September 2009 has been extended.
The new closing date for high school applications from parents living in Ealing is now Wednesday 12 November 2008.
This follows High Court consideration of the admission criteria for Drayton Manor High School, Hanwell. The Office of the School Adjudicator, an independent schools advisory body, has ruled that Drayton Manor’s admission criteria should be changed but this is being challenged by the school.
Full details of the admission criteria are expected to be finally determined in the High Court on Monday 27 October 2008. Full details of Drayton Manor High School’s admission criteria will be published on the Council’s website following the decision of the court next week.
The Council is writing to parents of year 6 primary school pupils in the borough to reassure those people who have already returned application forms that they will be able to submit a new paper form if they now wish to change their high school preference.
Parents will also be offered the opportunity to seek further information from the School Admissions Team and the Council will also be holding two meetings for parents to discuss the change of arrangements.
They will be held in the Elizabeth Cantell Room, Ealing Town Hall on:
If parents wish to request a new application form or get further information should contact the Council’s admission team on (020) 8825 5522.
The deadline for online applications cannot be extended for technical reasons and will close on 24 October as in other London Boroughs. If parents wish to change their preferences after this date but before the new closing date of 12 November, they must complete a new paper form.
The decision to change the school’s admission policy was made on 16 October by the Office of the Schools Adjudicator following a referral of the school’s admission policy by Ealing Council and Brentside High School in June 2008.
