Ealing Fostering and Adoption Connections is encouraging more people to become foster carers as part of this year’s Foster Care Fortnight campaign (12 to 25 May).
With almost 400 looked after children in Ealing this year, there has never been a greater need for homes and carers for these young people, particularly from a white background.
An information session is being held on 2 June at 7.30pm in the Queens Hall at Ealing Town Hall. There will be an opportunity to meet foster carers and adoptive parents who will be able to answer questions and discuss their personal experiences.
The campaign is coordinated by the national charity Fostering Network to raise awareness and engage anyone who may have been thinking about fostering to come forward.
Ian Gibb, Cabinet member for Children’s Services said: "Foster carers have a vital role to play in giving children in care the best possible start in life. If you can offer a child a stable home, time and patience, you may be giving them something that they may not have ever had before.
"Carers will receive ongoing training and support as well as a generous weekly allowance to meet the needs of the child. Carers in Ealing have already made a difference to hundreds of lives but we want to continue this great work and offer more children a chance of a better future."
