Ealing Council is giving away 100 compost bins to encourage families to recycle more of their food and garden waste at home.
The free 220-litre bins will be handed out in Ealing Town Hall car park from 12pm-4pm on Thursday, 15 May. This special giveaway aims to encourage residents to create their own compost at home to improve the soil in their gardens, and make them even more attractive.
Residents will have the opportunity to talk to a compost expert from the Waste and Resources Action Plan (WRAP), get information on how to use the bin successfully, and find out how to buy more of them.
Councillor Will Brooks, Cabinet Member for Environment and Street Services, said: “This is a good opportunity for any budding gardeners to give home composting a try. At least a third of your household bin could be composted and doing it at home is an environmentally friendly to improve your own garden, for free.”
Ealing Council is working in partnership with the government’s
Recycle Now campaign to offer great savings to buy additional
compost bins. For more information call 0845 077 0757 or visit
