Councillors meet in Ealing to discuss the future of the NHS (PR 1188)

Councillors from across London are set to meet in Ealing to debate how the NHS needs to change over the next decade to meet future demands on health services.

On Friday 14 March, councillors from every London borough will meet at 10am at Ealing Town Hall to discuss proposals from the capital's primary care trusts.

The plans, which are set out in 'Healthcare for London – Consulting the Capital', could mean a new look for local hospitals and the creation of polyclinics, which will allow people to see a range of different health care specialists under one roof.

The joint overview and scrutiny committee, which is the biggest London has ever seen, will be addressed by several experts, including the Chief Executive of the Royal College of Physicians, Martin Else and the Assistant Director of Operations at London Ambulance Service, Jason Killens.

The final meeting of the joint overview and scrutiny committee will be on Friday, 25 March at Kensington Town Hall where councillors will agree how they should respond to the proposals.

All meetings are open to the public and meeting papers can be viewed on Ealing Council’s website.  To submit views contact Nigel Spalding, Scrutiny Review Officer on 020 8825 8182 or email scrutiny@ealing.gov.uk
