A fishmonger has been hauled to court by Ealing Council after officers caught the slippery character dumping rubbish outside his shop.
Mohamed Hamed, owner of Mo’s Fisheries, Shop 2, The Bridge, Uxbridge Road, Ealing Common, was found guilty of the offence at Acton Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 19 June. He was given a 12-month conditional discharge for illegally depositing controlled waste and ordered to pay £500 costs.
Ealing Council’s envirocrime officers spotted Hamed fly-tipping his leftovers next to some railings outside his shop at the end of last year. Hamed denied this to the court and said he usually takes his waste to Billingsgate fish market.
Councillor Sue Emment, Cabinet Member for Environment and Street Services, said: “The Council will not put up with fly-tipping and we will always look to take court action against those who blight the borough. It’s a filthy thing to do and I dread to think what the smell would be like if anyone tried to dump food waste in particular during the warm weather.”
