The Central Library in Ealing Broadway Centre is reopening next month, following a £2million refurbishment.
It will be unveiled to the public on Tuesday, 29 July – reopening its doors to members old and new.
The library’s shelves will be filled with 20,000 new books and a whole host of other items, while an array of new facilities will await residents:
• 85 new computers with internet access
• a computer training room for adult learning classes
• study spaces including a silent study area
• an exhibition space
• new areas for children and young people
• a café and toilets.
Cabinet Member for Customer and Community Services, Councillor Phil Taylor, said: “It’s great that we now have an opening date for our brand new library. It’s going to be a fantastic facility which I’m sure will be well used by the whole community.
“It’s certainly been a challenging project and we’ve had to overcome some significant obstacles, such as a fire, but I’m sure residents will agree that it’s all been worthwhile.”
The new facility was originally expected to open in January this
year, but structural problems and a fire meant it had to be put
back.
Please note that Ealing Central Temporary Library will close
to the public from 5pm on Saturday, 19 July, so that staff can
transferred stock to the new library and ensure it’s ready to
reopen.
In the interim, from 20 to 28 July, books can be returned or renewed at any borough library or online at www.ealing.gov.uk/libraries
