Ealing Council has revealed that residents' satisfaction with its services is continuing to grow, and it has just announced a big investment to make even greater improvements.
According to research just out, more than 70 per cent of residents are pleased with street cleaning in the borough. But litter is still a concern, which is why the Council has decided to invest a further £414,000 to tackle grot spots in the borough.
The money is being spent to bring in more staff at ECT Recycling, Ealing's street cleaning contractors, for a one-off blitz in problem areas to bring them on to standard. They will be concentrating their efforts on industrial areas, main roads and other highways that have not met the Council's high expectations during random checks made by both Council officers and an independent monitoring service.
Councillor Sue Emment, Cabinet Member for Environment and Street Services, said: "It is important that we do a good job for our residents, and make them proud to be a part of this borough. I’m pleased the recent residents’ survey results reflect the hard work the Council is doing, but more can be done. Further investment in street cleaning will go a long way towards making the borough an even cleaner and nicer place to live."
The temperature check study, which surveys more than 1,000 residents, monitors their opinions of the borough to help identify what the Council is doing well, and to highlight areas that can be improved.
