Council makes Perivale safer with latest safety schemes (PR 1154)

Ealing Council is making Perivale even safer by introducing a dispersal zone to the Medway Estate.

The zone covers fifteen roads in the estate and gives Police the powers to disperse rowdy groups of trouble makers who have been abusing and scaring residents in this area.

Ealing Council and Police have set up the zone after Perivale residents raised their fears about anti-social behaviour at local meetings and community safety surgeries.  This dispersal zone is the latest in a series of schemes run where Ealing Council has joined forces with residents to make Perivale safer.

Over the last year the Council’s Community Safety Team has introduced the following schemes in an effort to make Perivale safer:

Councillor Sue Emment, Cabinet Member for Safer Communities, said: "We will not allow these trouble-makers to torment residents with dangerous dogs and loud music or scare people with abusive and aggressive behaviour.

"The dispersal order is to stop groups of people from gathering and hanging about on the streets.  We want to reassure residents that we are doing everything we can to make Medway Estate safe and crime free."

Susan Parsonage, Director for Safer Communities, said: "We are really pleased with the progress being made on the Medway Estate.  This is a great example of partnership work and residents using the anti-social behavior surgeries to make their neighbourhood safer."

The roads, which come under the dispersal order, include:

Medway Drive
Barmouth Avenue
Bleasdale Avenue
Calder Avenue
Colwyn Avenue
Conway Crescent
Hodder Drive
Rhyl Road
Scorton Aveune
Suez Avenue
Thames Avenue
Tees Avenue
Welland Gardens
Woodhouse Close
Woodhouse Avenue

The dispersal zone will include paths, alleys, grassed areas, service roads and communal stairwells and staircases.
