Ealing residents are being encouraged to swap their trash for
treasure to reduce the number of useful items ending up in landfill
sites.
In partnership with Ealing Council, Action Acton is launching
a new Give or Take market on the last Saturday of each month as
part of the Acton Town Centre Market Regeneration Project.
Residents can give away unwanted household or garden goods or take
something they do want, or pick up something someone else no longer
needs for free.
The market, which launches this Saturday, will provide people with an opportunity to get their hands on household items in good condition, and prevent unwanted goods from going to waste in landfill sites. Volunteers will run the stalls to ensure the goods are fairly distributed between visitors to the market.
Electrical appliances, clothes, knives, very large pieces of furniture or any items that are in a poor condition will not be accepted.
Councillor Will Brooks, Cabinet Member for Environment and Street Services, said: “We are very pleased to be working with Action Acton to minimise waste, which fits very well with the launch of the new recycling service launched in November.”
The Give or Take days will be held at Acton Market, The Mount/King Street, Acton Town Centre, W3 from 12.30pm - 3.30pm.
