Remembering the Holocaust (PR 1147)

Ealing Council is planting a tree to mark Holocaust Memorial Day and remember those around the world who lost their lives as a result of acts of genocide.

Ealing’s Mayor, Councillor Mrs Hazel Ware, Leader of the Council Jason Stacey and Chief Executive Darra Singh will plant a memorial tree outside Perceval House this Friday at 12.30pm, followed by a minute’s silence.

Councillor Stacey said: “There are a great many residents in the borough who were directly affected by the Nazi Holocaust. It is vital that we remember how the events of more than 60 years ago still have an impact on our communities today.

“It is also important to recognise that the day is intended to remember all groups who have faced persecution.”

The tree planting ceremony is open to all members of the public.

Commemorations began today, Monday, 21 January, with a remembrance event at Pitzhanger Manor-House with keynote speakers and a musician.
