What would you call Northolt Swimarama? (PR 1140)

Ealing residents are being given a chance to rename Northolt Swimarama and discover more about plans to rebuild the centre.

Roadshows are being held across the borough this month by Ealing Council’s Active Ealing team. Staff will be on hand to distribute surveys as part of the consultation on the multimillion-pound scheme, and invite residents to suggest a new name for the centre. They will also provide information about other facilities and activities in the borough.

The roadshows will be held from midday-4pm at:
Tesco, Glencoe Road, Yeading, on Saturday, 19 January
Tesco, The Hoover Building, Perivale, on Wednesday, 23 January
Greenford Broadway, on the corner of Oldfield Lane South, on Saturday, 26 January

Swimarama leisure centre closed at the end of October and is due to be re-opened as a state-of-the-art facility in 2010.

Councillor Nigel Sumner, Cabinet Member for Health and Community Well Being, said: “The roadshows are a great chance to find out more about the redevelopment of Northolt Swimarama, the plans are very impressive. I’m looking forward to hearing the suggestions for a new name, I’m sure our residents will come up with something catchy and dynamic to reflect the wide range of facilities.”

The suggestions will be on a shortlist and residents can vote on the final suggestions at an event next month.
