Ealing Leaf decision postponed (PR 1177)

The meeting to decide a planning application for the redevelopment of part of central Ealing has been postponed.

Ealing Council planning officers had serious reservations about aspects of the scheme so the developer will now be given more time to re-work the proposals.  The Council will also take into account the formal feedback from the Greater London Authority.

At this stage it's not known how long the whole process will take. Councillors were originally expected to consider the application for the redevelopment of the Arcadia site later this month, but the committee meeting will now take place at a later date.

Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Councillor David Millican, said: "There has been a huge response from Ealing residents to the consultation and I have been struck by how many have said that they would like to see Ealing regenerated through positive re-development."

The scheme, drawn up by HKR architects, includes proposals for 20,450 square metres (220,000 square feet) of commercial space,  1,168 square meters (12,567 square feet) of office space and 1,728 square metres (18,593 square feet) for leisure facilities.

Plans also include 704 flats, contained in a 40 storey (143 metre) building designed by internationally renowned architects Foster +Partners.

Details of the planning application are available to view at the Council’s Perceval House offices, Uxbridge Road, Ealing, in the borough’s libraries and can be found online at www.ealing.gov.uk
