Consultation on major new investment proposals for Southall (PR 1170)

Residents, retailers and businesses are being invited to take part in a meeting to discuss proposals to revitalise Southall.

Ealing Council has announced plans for a massive £2million investment, as part of its budget proposals, to improve Southall town centre. People can hear more about the project and share their ideas at the meeting on Wednesday, 27 February.

The meeting is at Hambrough Primary School, South Road, Southall, from 7-8.30pm. There will be an opportunity to browse the proposals from 6.30pm.

The cash is being set aside to carry out some of the work recommended by consultants Llewellyn Davies Young, who have developed a master plan which sets out a vision for how the town should develop to meet the changing needs of local people.

Changes are likely to include improvements to the street scene, pavements and highways. Money will also be made available to help shopkeepers improve their stores and window displays.

Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Economic Development, Councillor David Millican, said: “The new master plan for Southall sets out some of the key things we need to work out with our partners to help the town to thrive in the future. I’m delighted that we’ve been able to set aside such a significant amount of cash to allow us to quickly start work on some key projects for the area.”

The budget proposals are due to be discussed and formally agreed at a meeting of the Council on 4 March.
