Ealing Council’s park rangers evicted a group of travellers after they set up camp on parkland earlier this week.
Almost a dozen travellers were driven off the land in Havelock Road, Southall, within two hours of arriving with a number of caravans and transit vans on Monday afternoon.
They were evicted by park rangers and police and banned from returning for three months. If they come back in that time they could be arrested and their vehicles seized.
Councillor Nigel Sumner, Cabinet Member for Health and Community Well Being, said: “We won’t tolerate people illegally using our parks and open spaces in this way, they can expect to be dealt with firmly and moved on immediately.
“Our park rangers do a great job and this is yet another example of how they assist the community.”
Senior ranger Phil Belman added: “Although we have not had travellers here for some time, rangers are always ready to react quickly and work with police to deal with these illegal encampments.
“In this case the travellers were evicted in a short time so there was very little damage to the park.”
The park is also home to a children’s playground.
