An additional 150 high quality homes will be established in Ealing after the Council received a £4 million grant under the Government's Settled Homes Initiative.
The Council has been leading the way in the provision of affordable housing through the innovative development of its charity Safe Haven London Limited. Through this charity, the Council is able to provide additional housing for homeless families at no extra cost to tax-payers.
Safe Haven operates one of only two temporary-to-permanent schemes in London. This scheme means that the Council buys rather than leases flats and houses in the private sector, and the rental income is then used to pay down mortgages rather than the bulk of the money going to private landlords.
Safe Haven, which already owns 150 properties, will use the £4 million grant from the Department of Communities and Local Government to purchase an additional 150 homes which will include one, two and three bedroom properties.
Councillor Ian Green, Cabinet Member for Adult Services and Housing, said: "I am delighted that Ealing has secured additional funding for our innovative Safe Haven scheme. Housing is a key priority for the Council and the grant will help us continue to provide residents with affordable social and community housing now and into the future."
The Council expects to have the new homes available for tenancy before the end of the year.

Ealing Council was also part of the West London bid which
secured a £10 million grant under the Settled Homes initiative. A
sub-regional scheme is being developed to allocate these funds
throughout the area.
