Council leads taskforce team for Northfield crime swoop (PR 930)

Two arrests were made and booze was seized from a group of street drinkers during a swoop on envirocrime and anti-social behaviour in the borough’s Northfield ward.

Graffiti was removed from more than 30 locations and 6.5 tonnes of fly-tipped rubbish was taken away from areas in and around Northfield Avenue.

A 30-strong team of Ealing Council’s community safety and envirocrime officers, the police, DVLA and the Environment Agency carried out the work.

The two arrests related to the sale of counterfeit DVDs and failure to produce documents relating to the transfer of waste.

Council Leader Jason Stacey said: “This was a successful event and we tackled a wide range of anti-social behaviour and envirocrime issues in Northfield.”

The Northfield Partnership Taskforce Day took place from 10am – 6pm on Thursday 8 February.

Partnership taskforce days are staged regularly across the borough and support the council’s priorities of cleaner streets and safer communities. The council’s third priority is providing value for money services.
