A hoarder must remove unsightly amounts of waste and debris from his land after losing his appeal against an Ealing Council enforcement notice on Monday, 10 December.
Murray King, of Fielding Terrace, Uxbridge Road, Ealing, was ordered to clean up his act at Acton Magistrates’ Court. He was also ordered to pay costs of £1,700.
King allowed the back gardens of two properties he owns in
Fielding Terrace to become over-run with:
· rusty cars
· rotten doors
· a digger covered in graffiti
· disused bicycles
· building materials
Following complaints from residents the Council issued an enforcement notice in August, and King had until the end of September to comply. He had previously failed to take any action after receiving a warning letter in March.
King's appeal against the notice failed at court and magistrates ordered him to remove all the items from the rear gardens of his properties with the exception of a boat. He has three months to clear the gardens.
Councillor Will Brooks, Cabinet Member for Environment and Street Services, said: "One of our main priorities is to make the borough’s streets cleaner and I am really pleased that the courts have supported us in helping to do this.
"Residents shouldn’t have to put up with their neighbours
ruining the appearance of the borough and we will continue to take
action against people blighting the borough with their waste."
