Ealing Council’s Noise Team has seized hundreds of pounds worth of electrical equipment in a Christmas clampdown on noisy neighbours.
The team swooped on a property in Evesham Court, Tewkesbury Road, West Ealing, on Wednesday, 12 December and confiscated a stereo, television, musical keyboard and a computer.
Officers began monitoring the property following a string of ongoing complaints about noisy pets and loud music. The Council had previously issued a noise abatement notice but the owner has breached this a number of times in recent months. As a result, officers got magistrates’ permission to use their powers to seize the equipment causing the noise.
Councillor Will Brooks, Cabinet Member for Environment and Street Services, said: “We use these powers as a last resort but will take action when people are continually inconsiderate to their neighbours, and end up making their lives a misery. We will not stand by and leave residents to face these problems alone.
“People will be celebrating and having fun at this time of year. We want everyone to enjoy themselves, but to remember it’s a time to show consideration for others.”
