Creativity, imagination and the power of the spoken and written word will be celebrated at the first ever Ealing Literary Festival.
The event will feature readings from actor and comedy performer Nicholas Parsons, and well-known writers including Nirpal Singh Dhaliwhal (Tourism), Gautam Malkani (Londonstani) and best-selling historian Adam Zamoyski.
There will be a Speakers Corner, open to members of the public to educate, inform or simply let off steam about the issues of the day. The Council’s deputy mayor, who is a musician and rapper is expected to take part.
Budding writers can develop their skills with experts who will be on hand at the Workshops Tent.
And for youngsters there will be children’s storytelling sessions in the afternoons of both days.
Gus Corcoran, Ealing Council’s Festival Events Manager, said: “ The Literary Festival is a great new addition to the Ealing summer programme.
“There is a fantastic line-up of writers with a vast range of backgrounds and experiences.
“The speakers corner section should prove very popular and I’m sure it will provide lively debate and strong opinions.”
Places on the writing workshops can be booked in advance. There are 15 maximum places per workshop. To book call 020 8825 8016 or 6640.
Ealing Literary Festival also includes The Bedford Park Book Corner. This will feature local authors such as novelist Celia Brayfield, gardening expert Gay Search and the W4Writers group.
