Ravenor Park will once again come alive with the sights and sounds of Greenford Carnival following Ealing Council’s decision to relaunch this popular event.
The carnival, which will be held on 7 July, has been re-instated by the council after a two-year absence. The event will kick off this year’s Ealing Summer celebrations, which also includes the Ealing Comedy and Jazz festivals, the London Mela and for the first time, Opera in the Park.
The rich and diverse cultures found throughout Greenford will be the inspiration for this year’s carnival, with a vibrant and varied programme of events, including a funfair, food and art market, performances and demonstrations of Caribbean, Bollywood, Bhangra, Salsa and Latin dancing.
The carnival will also provide a dedicated space for families
with young children and an area for organisations and local
charities to talk to residents and promote their services.
Council Leader Jason Stacey, said: “I’m absolutely delighted
we’ve been able to re-instate this well-loved community event which
has always been a wonderful, family-friendly day out.
“Planning for the carnival is underway and our events team is
working hard to make sure this year’s event caters for all
Greenford residents. It will be a great opportunity for
everyone to come together and celebrate the diversity of the
Greenford community.
“We will be revealing more details over the coming months of
what people can expect to see and enjoy at Greenford Carnival, as
well as the other Ealing Summer events which will run throughout
July and into August and September.”
The council encourages the local community to get involved and
put ideas forward as to how they would like the carnival to
develop.
