Three fly-tippers who dumped rubbish at the Tesco site in Perivale have been prosecuted after being hauled in front of magistrates by Ealing Council's envirocrime team.
They were all caught during an undercover operation using the supermarket's CCTV cameras, which were pointed at the recycling area in the store's car park, off Bideford Avenue.
This area has been plagued with extensive fly-tipping for more than two years, with irresponsible people continuously dumping their unwanted junk behind the recycling bins.
The CCTV operation was held on 17 September last year, and the three men were prosecuted at Acton Magistrates' Court on 29 March 2007.
They were:
Council Leader Jason Stacey, said: "This has been a long-standing issue for local residents and we stepped in on Tesco’s behalf to take action.
"We hoped the magistrate would have imposed tougher sentences as fly-tipping is a crime which has a hugely negative effect on communities.
"However, residents can be confident that the council will do its part to bring fly-tippers to justice and keep our streets cleaner, which is one our three priorities."
Gerry Sluter, the council's Envirocrime Prevention Area Manager for Perivale, and her colleague, Bik Dhillon, carried out the operation at Tesco.
Gerry said: "These prosecutions should give a loud and clear signal that we will not let Perivale be blighted by fly-tipping."
Another three men who were also caught in the operation face court hearings later this month.
Ealing Council's other two priorities are safer communities and
value for money services.
